{"id":11666,"date":"2026-07-23T08:44:50","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T06:44:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/exilarte.org\/?p=11666"},"modified":"2026-08-03T08:45:20","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T06:45:20","slug":"isa-research-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/exilarte.org\/en\/isa-research-2026","title":{"rendered":"isa research 2026: Exilarte Concert &amp; Workshop | July 24, 25, and 26, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Exilarte Repertoire in Context: History, Analysis, Interpretation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Exilarte Centre at the mdw \u2013 University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna is dedicated to researching, preserving and reviving the works of musicians who were erased from cultural memory as a result of persecution and exile under National Socialism. In 2026, Exilarte will celebrate its 20th anniversary as well as 10 years of institutional affiliation with the mdw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the isa \u2013 International Summer Academy of the mdw, this work takes place in direct dialogue with young musicians: the workshop, led by the founder of the Exilarte Centre, Associate Professor Dr Gerold Gruber, offers students the opportunity to engage intensively with selected works from the Exilarte estates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The focus is on practical work on the repertoire. Drawing on original sources, interpretative questions, stylistic features and aspects of programme design are explored collaboratively. At the same time, the workshop provides insights into the background of the works and the often fragmentary nature of their transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The workshop is conceived as a fusion of artistic practice and historical reflection: the aim is not merely to reconstruct the music, but to rethink and reposition it as a living component of today\u2019s concert life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of isa26, two prizes were awarded for outstanding artistic achievements. The competitions offered students in the isaMasterclasses the opportunity to present their interpretations to an audience and a panel of expert judges. <br>The Exilarte Award was dedicated to works by composers who were persecuted, displaced, or murdered during the Nazi regime.
