Persecution and Resurrection | 03.12.2026 | Das MuTh"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The MUK Symphony Orchestra performs ostracised music<\/strong><br><br>The MUK Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with the mdw\u2019s Exilarte Centre, promises a special concert evening with a performance of works by Julius B\u00fcrger, Wilhelm Grosz and Hans Winterberg: all composers whose works were deemed \u2018degenerate\u2019 and ostracised under National Socialism and subsequently consigned to oblivion. Winterberg\u2019s mystical ballet <em>Mandragora<\/em>, composed in 1969 and never performed during his lifetime, will receive its world premiere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gustav Mahler called his <em>Totenfeier<\/em> (Funeral Rite), composed in 1888, \u2018truth and poetry in sound\u2019; he used it as the first movement of his Symphony No. 2, known as the \u2018Resurrection Symphony\u2019. On this evening, it sounds like a tribute spanning the ages: to the persecuted, to their art, and to that which could not be eradicated.
