André Singer

Szabadka, (Austria-Hungary, later Subotica Yugoslavia and today part of Serbia), 1907 – 1996, New York City

He studied composition with Joseph Marx and was later one of the co-founders of the revue theatre “Literature am Naschmarkt”.In 1938 he immigrated to the United States via France. From 1946 he taught at the exclusive young ladies’ Sarah Lawrence College. After retirement in 1977, he continued to teach at the Diller-Quaile School of Music, New York City College and The New School.
